Barty Stays Hot in Doubles, Secures Title in Rome
FILA sponsored athlete Ashleigh Barty and partner Demi Schuurs captured the Women’s Doubles Title Sunday in Rome at the 2018 Italian Open. The victory comes in the pair’s first tournament played together and featured a hand full of impressive comeback victories in route to the title.
“I think it was important for us to keep chipping away,” said Barty, of the challenges faced throughout the tournament.
The eighth seeded Barty/Schuurs faced early deficits in both their second and quarterfinal round matches, battling back from a set down in each to advance. Coming back from an early break down in the championship match, the duo won the final six games of the match to secure the title in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 over second seeded Barbora Strýcová /Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková.
“We knew that when you have a lead and it gets tight, you start to feel it a bit more. It was a very good comeback in the second set, but I think a very clean match overall, “Barty noted after securing the win.
This win marks Barty’s second doubles title of the season, coming just over a month after winning at the Miami Open in April. Barty will move into the 5thoverall spot in the WTA Doubles Rankings, a new career high.

FILA Partners With Shoe City for the Second Edition of the “Puzzle Piece”
Last year, FILA and Shoe City partnered together for the first edition of the “Puzzle Piece.” The style selected for the collaboration shoe was The Cage, a retro streetball silhouette. The pair was draped with a lush “Light It Up Blue” tonal suede upper and a multi-colored puzzle piece lining, along with an embroidered puzzle piece logo on the tongue. A portion of every purchase was donated to Autism Speaks to help raise awareness, fund research and change the future for those who struggle with autism spectrum disorders. According to the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), one in every 88 children are diagnosed with Autism in the United States.
Almost one year to date, FILA and Shoe City return for the second edition in the “Puzzle Piece” series. In 2017, the FILA F-13 silhouette is selected. Dressed in a mostly white tumbled leather upper, the classic F-13 features the FILA-flag in the “Light It Up Blue” color, as well as suede overlays along the eye-row, and strap. Much like the first edition of the series, the sock liner, back tongue and footbed are dressed in a multi-colored puzzle piece print to tie back to the Autism Awareness official symbol and messaging. Additionally, that same print is displayed on the shoe laces.
The collaboration shoe drops this Thursday, April 20th, on YCMC.com and in select Shoe City doors. For every purchase made, Shoe City will donate $10 to Autism Speaks.
Pricing: Mens: $79.99 Grade School: $64.99 Pre-School: $59.99

Participants were able to visit the FILA booth and enjoy the featured activations. This included postural and kinematics evaluation, aimed at analyzing how bones and muscles organize themselves to deal with the gravity and forces that work on the body, as well as body composition analysis, which verifies the physiological data of each athlete.
FILA offers running enthusiasts a wide range of products designed to provide the best performance for professional and amateur athletes. "Running is one of FILA's positioning forefronts in Brazil, and being the official sports brand of one of the country's most traditional competitions is an honor and adds to the brand's strategy," said Felipe Rosa, FILA Brazil's Marketing Manager.
To strengthen its position within the sport and to further encourage engagement, the brand will offer 17 guests the experience of being able to feel like an elite athlete, when they will have the opportunity to start very close to FILA Running Team.
"Through this sponsorship and activations, we have a platform that includes experience and relationship to get closer to amateur athletes and present our collection of products, showing the most current and technological items we have to those who love street running. That helps us to gain recognition," said Rosa.

FILA and Staple’s New Capsule Collection Debuts 3.15.17
FILA and Staple Pigeon have teamed up for the Spring 17 season, this time on an international level. The companies are set to unveil a new capsule collection on March 15, 2017, available at premium international FILA flagship stores and select top tier global retailers. Similar to last year’s collaborative release, the capsule will include a range of apparel and footwear styles. Pieces were designed to combine classic FILA silhouettes with Staple’s signature graphic eye, for a collection that seamlessly merges elements associated with both brands.
The Spring 17 offerings fuse NYC-based Staple’s influence in street and sneaker culture, with FILA’s heritage in fashion and sport. On the apparel side, the collection consists of graphic tees, long sleeve shirts, pique polo shirts, velour sweat suits, shorts, and windbreakers. The hooded tees and scalloped hems combine a penchant for sportswear and street style. Additional design details include color blocking, stripes and camo prints, in keeping with the line’s black, white, gray and pigeon pink color palette. Pieces also feature FILA's co-branded patches, which identify both brands and have been used for decades specifically for pinnacle collaborations and collections. The footwear component of the capsule collection features the F-13 and Original Fitness silhouettes in multiple colorways. Both styles were designed with a full grain leather and suede combo upper. The shoes also feature the two-tone FILA flag, bearing the same combination of materials. In addition, the footwear designs share customized product details such as a dual branded, embroidered tongue patch, sock liner, printed footbed, and branded lace tips.
“FILA represented to me the perfect marriage of luxury with attitude. As I grew up, and Hip-Hop was infused into my DNA; it was fitting to see my lyrical heroes show love to FILA as well. Now, decades later, it is an honor that I’ve come full circle and am now able to collaborate with that same brand and bring the aesthetic I’ve created at Staple Pigeon to the table. FILA x Staple has been a long time coming. Love All.” Jeff Staple, Founder of Staple Pigeon

Fondazione FILA Museum Remains a Partner of the “Adopt a Champion" Project
(FILA Italy) – In 1983, FILA launched the first shoes featuring the brand’s iconic red and blue “F-Box.” It was a new path that led FILA, in the mid-90s, to reach the second place ranking in the United States basketball market. Since then, FILA has maintained its link with basketball, most recently by supporting Pallacanestro Biella, the Italian professional basketball team based in Biella.
The Pallacanestro Biella’s visit to the Fondazione FILA Museum on November 11, has renewed this historical connection.
According to the Fondazione FILA Museum: “It has been a great pleasure to host the athletes of the basketball team of Biella and to see them walking through the museum that tells the story of FILA. They have been able to experience the entrepreneurial adventure that this great brand has represented and to understand FILA’s roots and evolution during the years.”
The meeting ended with the signing of the “Adopt a Champion” agreement for the second consecutive year. This year’s champion is Federico Massone. Federico joined the first team this season (2016/2017), participating in the championship men's A2 Series, where he had the opportunity to make his debut among the team’s seniors and score the game’s first baskets.

FILA Bubbles “OG” Receives a General Release for Holiday 2016
(FILA North America) - In 2015, FILA brought the Bubbles back out of the vault, for the first time in nearly two decades. The model was the most requested by consumers and devoted fans of the brand. While the silhouette was an instant success that year, the OG release, which is considered to be a very rare gem for the vintage/collector, still continues to be a craze on resell markets like eBay. For a brand like FILA, a silhouette like this comes down to pure timing. This time around, with the OG Black colorway, FILA opts to expand on pairs and sizes. This release will be available nationwide on December 16 in both men’s and kid’s sizes.
The origin of the model's name is apparent with its four pods, bearing the word FILA in a lateral format. While the model's side design is the most recognizable feature, another important detail is the outer lacing system, which proves to be a distinctive feature. The pair is made up of a trio of materials including mesh, FILA buck and tumbled leather. Aside from the descending FILA branding on the upper, there is a unique diamond logo on the tongue and FILA "F" on the back ankle pull.
This release will feature an original Black/White/Red colorway. The pairs will come in a custom draw box with branded tissue paper. Retail for this release is $100 for men’s and $75 for kids.

(FILA North America) - FILA and Urban Outfitters are excited to launch their latest collaboration, inspired by FILA’s history in extreme sports, with motocross influences at the forefront for this Fall 2016 collection.
Updating signature styles from FILA’s storied past has reintroduced FILA’s brand story to the modern Urban Outfitters customer; tennis legends of the 1970’s served as inspiration for last year’s inaugural FILA+UO line.
“Urban Outfitters’ customers have embraced FILA’s heritage with interest and excitement,” said Danny Lieberman, Senior Vice President of Apparel at FILA North America. “The Fall 2016 FILA + UO offerings evoke a perfect balance of the traditional and the innovative, with a collection full of silhouettes derived from FILA’s influence in the sport of motocross, beginning in the 1980’s and continuing through the 1990’s and early 2000’s.”

The latest lineup includes nine new styles for women. To capture the motocross motif, details reminiscent of racing stripes and emblems adorn fitted jackets, form-fitting dresses, cropped tanks, sweaters, and leggings. The Fall 2016 FILA + UO collection is highlighted by the woven Moto Sport Jacket, designed with a sporty, vintage flair, in maroon, white and navy hues. Prices range from $39 for the Fiesta Cropped Tee to $179 for the Moto Sport Jacket.

FILA and Jason Wu Reinvent the "Modern Classic" for FW 2016
(FILA Hong Kong) - Since the launch of his career back in the early 2000s, fashion designer Jason Wu has created a fashion empire that is defined by his ability to combine unique innovations with classic elegance and eclectic energy. Wu’s new collection for FILA Hong Kong seamlessly combines elements of two great designers – drawing inspiration from the clean lines, classic fringe and bold colors found in the FILA archives, and reimagining them with new geometric patterns, stylish cuts, and a bold color pattern that, when combined, makes for a truly unique and sophisticated collection that brings the 1960s into the modern world.
The FILA x Jason Wu women’s collection is defined by its unique combination of asymmetrical cuts, fabrics, and patterns that blend vintage FILA styles with contemporary silhouettes. Included in the collection are four tennis dresses, two tops, a skort, and a pant, which each sport a different color blocked pattern as well as bold lines of varying thickness and color. The show-stopping piece comes in the form of an ultra-feminine interpretation of the classic FILA tennis dress, which combines a smooth, form-fitting top, with a flirty pleated skirt, and an overlapping body piece. The mixture of fabrics and irregular stitching makes for a remarkable silhouette that creates a sense of depth, while keeping a visually optimized ratio.
The men’s FILA x Jason Wu line features a selection of polos, crewnecks, pants, and shorts in various combinations of white, black and grey – a design element that allows users to mix and match different pieces with ease. Various color blocking patterns and added geometric details in red, yellow, and blue gives each item its own unique flair, while remaining sophisticated and versatile. A black jacket with white piping on the wrists and waist rounds out the collection in stylish sophistication, making it the perfect addition to an autumn wardrobe.
The FILA x Jason Wu collection will be available this fall at select retail locations in Hong Kong, as well as online at www.fila.com.hk/. More information and photos about the collaboration may be found on FILA Hong Kong’s official site, as well as their Facebook and Instagram pages.
